Poughkeepsie's Weather: Halloween and Beyond

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — It will be unseasonably cold on Halloween, so consider tights, long johns or pajamas under those costumes if you're going around the neighborhood!

Temperatures will rise at midweek closer to the crazy unseasonable warmth of Sunday, but then they'll drop back down to something forecasters are describing as "seasonable." And by the end of the work week, we'll have stormy weather. Look for rain and even some thunderstorms.

"The theme overall this week will be seasonable temps, with a few pieces of energy swinging in and helping to keep temps on a bit of a seesaw as we get through midweek," said Alex Marra of Hudson Valley Weather.

Here's the five-day forecast from the National Weather Service for the Mid-Hudson Valley:

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 53. North wind 8 to 10 mph.
• Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 29. Calm wind.
• Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
• Tuesday Night: Isolated showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 65. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Thursday: A chance of showers after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35.
