TOWN OF WARWICK, NY — An online predator has been charged in the sexual abuse of a Hudson Valley child, according to prosecutors.

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that 38-year-old Arnaldo Gil, of Flushing, was arraigned on Monday on an indictment charging him with second-degree rape, third-degree rape, endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree sexual abuse, in connection with Gil repeatedly having sexual intercourse with a child.

"Children and minors must be protected from predators who use video games and social media to groom their unsuspecting victims," Hoovler said. "I urge all parents to talk to their children about the dangers of sharing information with those that they meet online. I am grateful for the resources that the Town of Warwick Police Department has, and is, continuing to put into this case. The safest way to protect the community from those who sexually abuse children is through lengthy incarceration."

According to court filings, Gil began having conversations with a 13-year-old girl who lived in the Town of Warwick during the summer of 2022. Prosecutors allege that beginning in November 2022, Gil would drive to Orange County to pick the child up at her high school and take her to various locations in the Town of Warwick, where he had sexual contact with the child. It is also alleged that from January 2023 through January 2025, he would repeatedly have sexual intercourse with the child, at certain times in AirBnB rentals he paid for in the Town of Warwick.
