Rain, Snow Kick Off Mid Hudson Valley Work Week

There are hazardous weather outlooks out. Here's the latest from the National Weather Service.

We'll start off the work week with a mix of rain and snow starting Monday afternoon in the mid-Hudson Valley.. We'll end it with temperatures getting up into the low 50s. It's going to depend on where you are in Dutchess, Orange or Ulster counties.

The NWS has issued one hazardous weather outlook for eastern Dutchess through 10 a.m. Tuesday:

Mixed precipitation expected. Patchy freezing drizzle is possible today. Tonight, areas of freezing rain after sunset will turn to sleet and snow after midnight. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch.

There is a chance for additional freezing rain, sleet and snow tonight into Tuesday morning. If confidence increases in the potential for some icing, another Winter Weather Advisory would be issued.

Here's the five day forecast for Orange County. Up to an inch of snow accumulation is possible overnight. Then you'll see temps swinging away from freezing:

  • This Afternoon-Cloudy with areas of drizzle. A chance of light rain early, then light rain likely. Cold with highs in the upper 30s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
  • Tonight-Rain in the evening, then rain with snow likely after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Lows in the lower 30s. North winds around 5 mph, becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
  • Tuesday-Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain and snow in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.
  • Tuesday Night-Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. Northwest winds around 5 mph in the evening, becoming light and variable.
  • Wednesday-Mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday Night-Partly cloudy. Lows around 30.
  • Thursday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s.
  • Thursday Night-Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain showers after midnight. Lows in the upper 30s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
  • Friday-Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
  • Friday Night-Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 20s.
