Return Of The Wintry Mix: Poughkeepsie's 5-Day Forecast

Rain, then snow, sleet and rain are expected. You'll want to make sure leaves are not clogging storm drains in Newburgh and Beacon.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — First, there's Monday night, when the Hudson Valley could get another inch of rain. That precipitation could take the form of wet snow in the Catskills.

"There is a potential for wet snow and sleet at the onset across Sullivan County and the Catskills. We’ll have to monitor the potential for a couple areas of a coating to an inch of slushy wet snow," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "But for the majority of us, it’s more rainfall that’s expected. How much rain? Well… a general inch or so of rain can’t be ruled out…"

Then there's Thursday, when we can expect our first bout of wintry mix to start, in a storm that is forecast to last into Friday morning.

"As has been the theme since the summer, the dry period will not last long," said Kristina Pydynowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. "Another and potentially more impactful storm is aiming for the eastern United States late this week."

In between, expect temperatures to rise into the 50s on Tuesday, then plummet. Highs may not get higher than the 30s and lower 40s on Wednesday and Thursday.
