Rhinebeck Woman Charged With Welfare Fraud
Police said she claimed SNAP benefits by concealing she had outside income.

RHINEBECK, NY — A Rhinebeck woman was arrested for welfare fraud. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said Selene B. Gutierrez, 31, was charged with third-degree, a felony. A recent investigation found that Gutierrez fraudulently received over $23,000 in SNAP benefits between March 2011 and February 2017 by concealing the fact that she had outside income.
Gutierrez was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and released to reappear on Jan. 3, 2018.
The investigation was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, in conjunction with the Investigations Division of the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services.
