Before he crashed, the man almost hit several pedestrians in a shopping center parking lot.

LAGRANGE, NY — A man from upstate was accused of stealing a pickup truck, which he crashed after a police chase. The New York State Police said Andre-Pierre J. Cadrette, 23, of Rome, Oneida County, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and first-degree reckless endangerment, felonies, and reckless driving, a misdemeanor.
Police said, around 9:15 a.m Wednesday, troopers were blocking a lane for the state Department of Transportation on the Taconic State Parkway in a clearly marked work zone. They attempted to stop a pickup truck that was seen violating vehicle and traffic laws.
The driver, police said, struck a guide rail and then left the parkway onto Route 82. He drove to the Kimberly Korners Shopping Center, where he nearly hit several pedestrians before crashing into an unattended parked vehicle.
