Schoharie Crash: Cause of Death The Same For All 20

The investigation into the USA's worst crash in a decade continues.

Of the 20 victims in Schoharie, New York Oct. 6 when a stretch limo SUV full of party-goers plowed down two pedestrians in a parking lot, everyone died of the same cause, state police said.

Autopsies reported "multiple severe traumatic blunt force injuries" for all 20. The autopsies were done by Albany Medical Center pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica.

State police said they were waiting for results of toxicology tests.

They have already arrested the operator of Prestige Limo, Nauman Hussain. The company's stretch 2001 Ford Excursion was not federally certified, and it had failed inspection a month before.

He was charged with criminally negligent homicide.

"The sole responsibility for that vehicle being on the road Saturday rests with Nauman Hussain," New York State Police Superintendent George Beach said Oct. 10.

The crash was the worst in the United States since 2009. Aside from the driver and the two pedestrians, all were friends or relatives of Amy Steenburg, on a trip for her 30th birthday. Members of the group had tweeted about the poor condition of the limo minutes before the crash.

According to press reports. the National Transportation Safety Board is still awaiting its turn to examine the Excursion.
