Search Continues For Missing Parachute, Harness
A New York man was killed after jumping out of a plane at 14,000 feet.
GARDINER, NY — State police have released photos of what they believe the parachute and pack a New York City man was using when he fell to his death skydiving Sunday in Orange County. The harness container is a black Glide Model 49-73 with a serial number 2492.
Police said William McCartin, 40, of New York, was skydiving from a plane that took off from Skydive the Ranch in the town of Gardiner.
He jumped out at about 14,000 feet along with another person. Witnesses said McCartin was wearing a parachute when he left the plane.

The man hit the ground in the parking lot of the Gardiner Fire Department on Route 44/55.
McCartin died of his injuries.

Police have been looking for his parachute and asked anyone who may have located it or seen the incident to call the Highland barracks at 845-691-2922.
