Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Mid-Hudson Valley

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of the Hudson Valley. The National Weather Service said the watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday.

The watch is for Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties.

An earlier hazardous weather outlook said scattered thunderstorms are expected Friday afternoon and evening.

Some thunderstorms could contain damaging winds and large hail.

An isolated tornado is possible, along with frequent lightning and locally heavy rain with ponding of water on roadways.
