Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Parts Of Hudson Valley

A cold front will be moving through the region Saturday and could possibly stir up severe weather.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A cold front moving through the region Saturday has the potential of creating some severe weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties.

The watch is in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday.

For the remainder of the Hudson Valley, there is the possibility of hazardous weather in Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

A band of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected just ahead of and along the cold front.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible on the leading edge of the front between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m, the weather service said.

There is also the localized threat of damaging wind gusts.
