Severe T-storm Warning For Parts Of Hudson Valley Tuesday: UPDATE

The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts.

The National Weather Service has upgraded a severe thunderstorm watch for southern Columbia, southeastern Ulster and all of Dutchess counties to a severe thunderstorm warning, effective until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

At 1:25 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Livingston to near Pine Plains to near Pleasant Valley to Newburgh, moving east at 40 mph.

Wind gusts of 60 mph are possible. Expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of the Hudson Valley Tuesday. The National Weather Service said the watch is for Columbia, Dutchess, Greene and Ulster counties and is in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The watch includes Arlington, Beacon, Cairo, Catskill, Kingston, New Paltz and Poughkeepsie.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued earlier and said widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected, especially late in the morning through the afternoon Tuesday.

The primary threat of the possibly severe thunderstorms will be damaging wind gusts.
