Slow-Moving Nighttime Convoys Coming To Columbia, Dutchess

Traffic will be temporarily stopped along the route when required.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced Monday that overnight transport of oversize loads from the Capital Region to the Hudson Valley is scheduled to begin Tuesday night, May 15. The transport of these oversized loads is scheduled to begin from the Port of Rensselaer in the city of Rensselaer and will proceed along a designated route to the Town of Dover in Dutchess County.

Forty-five convoys are scheduled to occur between May 15 and the end of the year, with another 45 return convoys.

The transports will be escorted by the New York State Police and will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. New York State Police will temporarily stop traffic where required along the route, which involves Riverside Avenue, Third Avenue, Route 151, Route 4, Route 20 in Rensselaer County; Route 20, Route 22, County Route 7A and Route 22 in Columbia County and Route 22 in Dutchess County.

Motorists should expect slow and stopped traffic upon encountering the transport as it proceeds along the route.
