South Carolina Men Accused Of Having Illegal Weapon On Thruway
Police said they found an illegal handgun and ammunition during a search of the men's car.
CORNWALL, NY — Two South Carolina men were accused of having an illegal weapon while traveling on the Thruway.
The New York State Police said, around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, troopers stopped a car on Interstate 87 in the town of Cornwall for a vehicle and traffic violation.
While speaking with the driver, probable cause was established to search the vehicle and its occupants.

Police said the search led to finding a Springfield Armory XDS-9 9mm handgun and a Springfield Armory magazine loaded with seven 9mm rounds.
The driver, Israel Davis, 25, and passenger, Malick Davis, 22, both of Hemingway, South Carolina, were taken into custody and processed at the Newburgh barracks.

Israel Davis was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Malick Davis was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, due to a previous conviction, police said.
Both men were charged with criminal possession of a firearm, a felony.
They were released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Cornwall Court March 10.
