Stabbing, Choking Accusation For Wappinger Man
Police said scissors were used to assault the victim.
WAPPINGER, NY — A Dutchess County resident was accused of stabbing and then choking a man.
The New York State Police said Michael J. Valentin, 31, of Wappinger, was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree strangulation, felonies.
Police said, shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, troopers were sent to Scarborough Lane in the town of Wappinger to check out a disturbance.

The investigation found Valentin was having an argument with a man who attempted to walk away from him.
Police said Valentin used a pair of scissors to stab the man multiple times before choking him to the point of unconsciousness.

Valentin also had a previous conviction for criminal possession of a weapon, according to authorities.
The victim was taken by EMStar to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Valentin was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Court and released on $5,000 secure bond. He is set to return to court Nov. 5.
