State Police End Investigation Into Fishkill Fatal Car Accident
A mother and 10-month-old child were killed. Three other children were injured.

FISHKILL, NY — State Police have ended the investigation into Sunday night’s fatal motor vehicle accident in Fishkill. They determined that the car’s driver, Robert Mahone, 53, of Fishkill and was not speeding and was not impaired by drugs or alcohol.
He was not issued any vehicle and traffic citations.
Police said Mahone remained at the scene immediately after the collision.

Zuleyma Lopez, 28, and her 10-month-old child, Abel E. Torres-Lopez, were killed while walking along Route 52. Lopez’s three other children were injured and taken to Westchester Medical Center.
Mahone was driving west on Route 52 in the center turn lane of the three-lane road. He did not see the family trying to cross the road from the north shoulder and struck them.
