Police said that the preliminary investigation found that the man was not cooperative with the troopers and refused to comply with commands several times.

When he moved to try to get in the troopers' car, one of the troopers fired his division-issued firearm and struck him, police said.

Assistance was called for immediately, and the man, whose name is not being released at this time, was treated at the scene.
