State-Run COVID Testing Site To Open In New Paltz

The site should be able to accommodate about 250 appointments each day, as well as 50 walk-ins, officials said.

NEW PALTZ, NY — The state-run coronavirus testing site on the SUNY New Paltz campus will open Tuesday.

County Executive Pat Ryan announced the facility will be open to the public beginning Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will then be open Monday through Friday. The Community Testing site will be at the College Terrace Building, 1 Hawk Drive, on the SUNY New Paltz campus.

The site will maintain capacity for about 225 appointments per day and up to 50 walk-ins for PCR testing.

Ryan said he was thankful for Gov. Kathy Hochul and her team responding to the county's request for a testing site.

"This site will help ensure that our residents have access to critically needed testing so we can keep our residents healthy," he said, "and continue to keep our schools and businesses open safely."

Ryan said, as the county responds to the ongoing surge in positive cases by the omicron variant, "it is essential for residents to continue to wear masks, get vaccinated and especially to get their booster shots."
