State Shuts Down Trails, Parking Areas Along Route 9D
Pedestrians walking along the highway have created a dangerous situation.

FISHKILL, NY — Because of people walking along Route 9D, the regional director of the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has closed all trails and parking areas along the corridor. The Town of Fishkill police posted the closing information on Facebook.
The closings include Breakneck Ridge, Notch Trail and Mount Beacon.
The number of pedestrians walking along the highway has created a dangerous situation, authorities said.

Officer have been told to conduct enforcement as necessary to ensure pedestrian and vehicle safety.
This includes ticketing and towing of illegally or unsafely parked vehicles, police said.
