He was initially stopped by the main entrance's metal detector.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A student attempted to bring a handgun into Poughkeepsie High School Wednesday and is now in the Dutchess County Jail.
The 16-year-old, who police did not identify, was stopped by the main entrance metal detector but then tried to hide the weapon in a hoodie at the school’s back entrance, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
Security found the weapon, which was loaded, and the teenager went to the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department where he was charged with felony gun possession, the Daily Freeman said.
