Sunny With A Midweek Hitch: Poughkeepsie's Weather

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Lovely and cool, that's the forecast ... mostly. The guys at Hudson Valley Weather predict things to be seasonably cool and comfortable all week.

"The average high for this time of year is almost 80° (Poughkeepsie average = 79°)," Hudson Valley Weather said. "Along with the slightly cool weather, will be low humidity. So a taste of late spring setting up to start our week."

There could be just one hitch — a chance of thunderstorms midweek.

The only exception to the dry weather will be on Wednesday," said Courtney Spamer, AccuWeather meteorologist.

Here's what the National Weather Service predicts for the five days in mid-Hudson Valley:

• Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. East wind around 5 mph.
• Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 49. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 77. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
• Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers after 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 82.
• Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.
• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 57.
