Sunoco Cashier Stabbed In Robbery Attempt, Suspect Now In Custody: Police

HYDE PARK, NY — An argument turned violent at a Hudson Valley gas station.

Hyde Park police arrested a suspect Wednesday after a cashier was stabbed at the Sunoco gas station.

Police said officers responded at about 6:08 a.m. Sept. 23 to the Sunoco on Albany Post Road in the Town of Hyde Park for a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they were informed that the cashier had been stabbed after an argument involving tobacco rolling papers.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a green Subaru.

Cops identified the suspect as Sydney E. Heidt, whose date of birth was listed as Oct. 11, 1998. Police said Heidt was located and arrested in connection with the incident and was taken into custody at around noon.

Heidt was processed and arraigned. Heidt was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center. Bail was set at $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or a $500,000 partially secured bond, according to the department.

Police said Heidt was charged with assault in the second degree, a Class D felony, robbery in the third degree, a Class D felony, menacing in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor.
