Sunoco Cashier Stabbed In Robbery Attempt, Suspect Now In Custody: Police

HYDE PARK, NY — An argument turned violent at a Hudson Valley gas station.

Hyde Park police arrested a suspect Wednesday after a cashier was stabbed at the Sunoco gas station.

Police said officers responded at about 6:08 a.m. on Wednesday to the Sunoco on Albany Post Road, in the Town of Hyde Park, for a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they were informed that the cashier had been stabbed after an argument involving tobacco rolling papers.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a green Subaru.

Cops identified the suspect as 27-year-old Sydney E. Heidt. Police said he was located and arrested in connection with the incident at around noon.

Heidt was processed and arraigned. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center. Bail was set at $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or a $500,000 partially secured bond, according to the department.

Police said Heidt was charged with felony second-degree assault; felony third-degree robbery; misdemeanor second-degree menacing; misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon; and misdemeanor petit larceny.
