SUNY New Paltz Cancels Classes Tuesday

Below freezing temperatures are making it difficult for crews to combat icy conditions on the campus

NEW PALTZ, NY — Because of icy conditions on campus and the forecast of bitterly cold temperatures through Monday, Jan. 21, SUNY New Paltz has cancelled classes for Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Residential students are strongly urged to delay coming back to the campus until Tuesday in the interest of safety, the university posted on its website.

Faculty are also advised not to travel to the campus on Monday due to persistent icy conditions.

The university said a determination will be made by 6 a.m. Tuesday regarding a possible delay in office openings on Tuesday.

School officials said that employees must use their best judgment as to whether or not they feel comfortable traveling on the roadways. They should make an effort to notify supervisors of their planned absence and their intention to use leave credits.
