Find out when sunshine will return, and what forecasters predict for Mother's Day weekend.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Hudson Valley region is expected to get significant rainfall, including potential thunderstorms, early this week, with the potential for flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
“We are expecting periods of moderate to heavy rain today through tonight, with the heaviest and highest amounts mostly in the eastern Catskills,” said Christina Speciale, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Albany, on Monday.
The Hudson Valley region could see one to three inches of rain through tonight, with up to four inches in the eastern Catskills, she said.

“The air is very humid, and there could be some heavy downpours, meaning more flooding potential,” Speciale said. “Unfortunately, more rain is possible on Wednesday.”
On Thursday, the Hudson Valley region may finally see some breaks of sunshine, and drier weather is expected. There is a chance for wet weather again Friday into Saturday, according to Speciale.
“Mother’s Day should trend drier, with temperatures in the low 70s,” Speciale said. “Of the entire weekend, Sunday is the best chance for drier and warmer weather.”
