HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Showers and possible thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Hudson Valley Thursday night.

The National Weather Service reports a warm front is approaching the region, bringing an increased chance for showers and thunderstorms late this evening and overnight.

The chance of precipitation is around 84 percent for southern parts of the Hudson Valley, rising to about 93 percent in the mid-Hudson Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

It predicts showers and thunderstorms before 4 a.m., with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 a.m.

After any precipitation passes through, most of Friday is expected to be partly to mostly sunny, with highs in the low to mid-80s, followed by another chance for showers Friday night into early Saturday, meteorologists said.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 4 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 a.m. Low around 63. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 3 to 7 mph.

Friday Night: A chance of showers, mainly after 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 63. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
