Upstate Man Shoots Pickup Truck: Police

Police also said the man knew a person was within his line of fire.

NEW LEBANON, NY — An upstate man was accused of shooting up a pickup truck in Columbia County. State police said Robert K. King, 52, of Stephentown, Rensselaer County, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and second-degree reckless endangerment and fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanors.

Around 7 p.m. Sept. 3, troopers were sent to a home on State Route 22 in Columbia County for a report of a bullet hole in a pickup truck.

Police said the investigation found King fired a shot from a Heckler and Koch P7 9mm handgun.

He did not have a pistol permit for the weapon, police said, and he also knew someone was within his line of fire.

King was arraigned in the Town of New Lebanon Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail or secure bond.

His next scheduled court appearance is set for Sept. 6.
