Upstate Woman Drives Drunk With Children In Car: NYSP
She is facing a felony charge under New York's Leandra's Law.

NEWBURGH, NY — A Saratoga County woman is facing a felony charge after being accused of driving while drunk with children in her car.
The New York State Police said, around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, troopers were sent to a single car accident on Interstate 87 northbound in the town of Newburgh.
The driver, Maria C. Gebremichael, 37, of Gansevoort, Saratoga County, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with her 6- and 8-year-old children, police said.

She was taken into custody and processed at the Newburgh barracks.
Her children were turned over to a sober relative, authorities said. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Gebremichael's blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.10 percent, and she was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a felony in New York under Leandra's Law.
She was turned over to a sober third party and given an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Newburgh Court Aug. 25.
