VanBlarcum Handily Defeated By Figueroa For Democratic Line
Figueroa was a state troop for 25 years.

KINGSTON, NY — Incumbent Democratic County Sheriff Paul J. VanBlarcum was handily defeated by challenger Juan Figueroa to be on the Democratic Party line for county sheriff in the November general election.
Unofficial results, with 100 percent of the vote in, have Figueroa receiving 81.93 percent of the votes.
VanBlarcum received 18.02 percent of the votes.

Figueroa served as a Marine for four years active duty, with 18 years in the Marine Corps Reserve.
He became a state trooper in 1988 and served for 25 years.

VanBlarcum has been county sheriff for three terms.
He will appear on the ballot in November on the Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines.
