Venomous Snake Found In Mid-Hudson Valley
An environmental police officer was able to capture and identify the reptile.

WOODSTOCK, NY — It wasn't exactly "Snakes on a Plane" and Samuel L. Jackson wasn't anywhere around, as far as we know. Bur earlier in October, a Department of Environmental Conservation Police Officer Jason Smith received a call from a Woodstock resident concerned about a snake close to his home.
The caller did not know what kind of snake it was, but was worried it might be venomous.
Smith met the man at his residence and found the snake in a small rock pile next to the back door.

He identified the reptile as a northern copperhead, one of the state's three venomous species.
Smith coaxed the snake into a bucket and released in nearby state lands with a more suitable habitat.
