Victim In Deadly Head-On Smart Car, SUV Crash ID'd As 63-Year-Old
A Smart car was traveling north on NY Rte 9W, when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Volkswagen Tiguan, NYSP said.

ESOPUS, NY — Authorities have released information about the victims of a deadly crash in the Hudson Valley.
The New York State Police say that on Wednesday, around 6:14 a.m., troopers from the Highland barracks responded to the area of 1835 State Route 9W, in the Town of Esopus, after receiving a report of a two-vehicle, head-on collision.
An initial investigation found that a 2009 Smart car was traveling north on State Route 9W when, for unknown reasons, it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan.

The driver of the Smart car, identified as 63-year-old Jennifer L. Burke, of Port Ewen, was ejected from the vehicle. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen Tiguan was identified as a 49-year-old man from West Park. He was taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
