Victim ID'd In Deadly Honda, Ford Head-On Crash On Monday: NYSP

Police say the Honda crossed into the southeast lane of travel and struck the Ford head-on, in the Town of Deerpark.

TOWN OF DEERPARK, NY — Authorities have identified the victims of a deadly crash in Orange County.

The New York State Police say that on Monday, around 1:45 p.m., troopers from Greenville responded to a fatal, two-vehicle collision on State Route 42/97, in the town of Deerpark.

An initial investigation determined that a 2004 Honda was traveling northwest on State Route 42/97, while a 2014 Ford was traveling southeast on the same roadway.

The driver of the Honda, identified as 76-year-old Patricia A. Desomma, of Warwick, crossed into the southeast lane of travel for unknown reasons and struck the Ford head-on.

Desomma and her front-seat passenger, 76-year-old John J. Desomma, of Warwick, were extricated from the vehicle.

John Desomma received life-saving measures at the scene and was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Patricia Desomma was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 36-year-old woman from Sparrowbush, was also taken to Garnet Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
