Violence On The Midway Of County Fair Leads To 3 Arrests: New York State Police

RHINEBECK, NY — A good time turned ugly when violence marred an otherwise pleasant day at the Dutchess County Fair.

On Aug. 29, at 8:47 p.m., New York state troopers and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assigned to the Dutchess County Fair detail, in Rhinebeck, responded to a report of a fight in progress on the midway.

At the scene, a 29-year-old man had bleeding from his face and significant swelling to his left eye, according to police. Investigators say that while that victim was waiting to board a ride, he was assaulted by three men, identified as 32-year-old Ryan A. Depew, of Catskill; 31-year-old Lloyd D. Depew, of Kingston; and 36-year-old Dennis J. Appollonia, also of Kingston.

The assault left the victim with serious physical injuries, according to NYSP. He was taken to Kingston Health Alliance Hospital.

On Sunday, Appollonia was arrested and charged with felony gang assault, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

On Monday, Ryan Depew and Lloyd Depew were also arrested and charged with felony gang assault, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

They were arraigned in the Town of Hyde Park Court and released under the supervision of probation. They are scheduled to return to the Town of Rhinebeck Court on Sept. 17.
