Wappinger Man Arrested For Threatening DMV: NYSP

Police responded to the DMV because they were told someone had a gun.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — A Town of Wappinger man alarmed staff and customers at a Dutchess County Department of Motor Vehicles Monday and found himself arrested. State police said troopers were sent to the DMV office on Marshall Road in the Village of Wappingers Fall around 9:10 a.m. Monday on a report of a man with a gun.

Police said Barry A. Gutierrez, 28, of the Town of Wappinger, was acting in a disruptive manner and was implying he had a gun.

He was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony, and third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

Gutierrez was arraigned in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.

He is next scheduled to appear in court June 21.
