Wappingers Falls Man Accused Of Stealing 3 Chain Saws, Leaf Blower: Police

Police said they saw the suspect wheeling a shopping cart with merchandise toward a waiting vehicle.

HYDE PARK, NY — A Wappingers Falls man was arrested in Hyde Park May 15 for allegedly stealing three chain saws from a Home Depot. New York State Police said Ryan McNamee, 40, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony. On May 15 plain-clothed State Police investigators were in the parking lot of Home Depot on North Road in Poughkeepsie when they saw McNamee enter the store.

Several minutes later, police said, McNamee was seen leaving the store, running toward a vehicle.

He was pushing a shopping cart which allegedly contained three chain saws and a leaf blower.

After McNamee was confronted by the investigators, he grabbed a chain saw from the cart and threw it into his vehicle, police said, telling the driver to leave the parking lot.

The vehicle was subsequently stopped by State Police on Route 9 in Hyde Park.

McNamee was arrested and received the grand larceny charge for allegedly stealing more than $1,100 worth of merchandise from Home Depot.

The two other people in vehicle were not charged and were released from police custody.

McNamee was arraigned in the Town of Hyde Park Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

He is due to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court May 17.
