Woman Abandons Newborn In Motel Toilet In Hudson Valley
Motel staff went in to clean the room and found blood in the bathroom and around the toilet.

NEWBURGH, NY — A Newburgh woman faces a second-degree attempted murder charge — and more — after, police said, she left her newborn son in a Town of Newburgh motel toilet. Teresa Rose Smith, 23, allegedly left the room she rented at the Route 9W Budget Inn after noon Nov. 1.
Motel staff went in to clean the room and found blood in the bathroom and around the toilet, recordonline.com said.
The child, who was found in the water of the toilet bowl, was able to be revived, was taken to the hospital and is said to be doing well, according to authorities.

Smith also faces assault, reckless endangerment and child abandonment charges.
She is being held in the Orange County Jail, the Daily Voice said, on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.
