Woman Charged With Endangering Welfare Of A Disabled Person

RED HOOK, NY — A Saugerties woman was arrested for allegedly punching a person with developmental disabilities. New York State Police said Annette Stramel, 51, of Saugerties, was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, a misdemeanor.

An investigation, supported by the state Justice Center, found that Stramel allegedly punched a 21-year-old handicapped woman in the leg.

Stramel is employed by a local residential facility for people with developmental disabilities.

She was issued an appearance ticket for her to appear in the Town of Red Hook Court June 22.

The Justice Center helps to support and protect the health, safety and dignity of all people with special needs and disabilities, according to its mission statement.
