Woman Dies When Tree Falls On Car

STAATSBURG, NY — A Dutchess County woman was killed Monday when a tree fell on her car while she was driving. Police said the woman was driving alone on Albany Post Road in Staatsburg around 3:15 p.m.

The 70-year-old Red Hook resident's name is being withheld pending notification of family, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

Roosevelt Fire Department firefighters freed the woman from the heavily damaged car, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, MidHudson News reported.

Albany Post Road was closed to traffic for almost three hours.
