Woman Killed Crossing Route 9 In Wappinger
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident to call them.

WAPPINGER, NY — A Town of Wappinger woman was killed when she was struck by a car on Route 9 Wednesday. State police said troopers were patrolling Route 9 in the area of Old Hopewell Road around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 29 when they saw there had been a collision between a pedestrian and a car.
The initial investigation suggests that Graciela N. Gonzalez, 30, of Wappinger, was trying to cross Route 9 from the west shoulder.
Police said the operator of a white 2007 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on Route 9 through a green light at the intersection with Old Hopewell Road and did not see Gonzalez, subsequently striking her.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police said there are no criminal charges at this time.
