Wrong-Way Driver Says She'll 'Blow The Troopers Brains Out': NYSP

Troopers said the woman almost caused a head-on collision on Route 9W and had a blood alcohol content two times the legal limit.

WOODBURY, NY — A Woodbury woman was arrested after being accused of driving while drunk and almost striking another car head-on.

The New York State Police said, around 4 a.m. Saturday, troopers saw a 2006 Chevrolet HHR going north in the southbound lane of Route 9S in the town of Newburgh.

Police said SUV almost truck another vehicle head-on.

The Chevrolet was stopped and the driver was identified as Lymaris Valverde, 30, from the town of Woodbury.

While talking with her, troopers found she was impaired by alcohol and the SUV had switched plates and no insurance.

Valverde was taken into custody.

While the car was being towed, she said she hoped both troopers got killed and that she would come to the barracks and do it herself, police said.

Authorities said, while she was being taken to the barracks, Valverde tried to kick out the rear driver's side door and window.

At the Montgomery barracks, it was found she had a blood alcohol content of 0.16 percent, and troopers said she was in possession o 1.3 grams of heroin.

As she was being processed, Valverde said that, because of bail reform, she would return and "blow the troopers brains out," according to the police.

She was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated, all misdemeanors. She was also issued 13 tickets.

Valverde was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Newburgh Court April 19.
