Woman, 70, Injured In Manhattan Subway Attack, Police Say

Medics took the victim to NYU Langone Medical Center with injuries to her head and neck, police said.

MIDTOWN EAST, NY — A 70-year-old woman was attacked by a man in an underground transit pathway at Lexington Avenue and East 53rd Street on Monday, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the woman was walking in an underground pathway toward the "6" train station at 10:30 a.m. when the man, unprompted, pushed her into a wall, causing her to hit her head and fall to the ground.

The man ran away, and medics took the victim to NYU Langone Medical Center with injuries to her head and neck, police said.

Police are still investigating the incident and have not made any arrests yet. Police said the suspect is around 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans, black sneakers, and glasses.
