MIDTOWN, NY — A man is dead after a shooting near a Midtown Manhattan subway station Saturday afternoon, prompting service changes on three subway lines, according to New York City police.
Police received a 911 call at 12:21 p.m. reporting that a man had been shot near Seventh Avenue and West 53rd Street.
Emergency medical personnel took the victim to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch. He later died, police told ABC7 and CBS New York.
No arrests have been made, and police have not released a description of the suspect.
The shooting prompted subway service changes at the Seventh Avenue station, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The NYPD investigation is disrupting service on several subway lines, according to the MTA. C, D and E trains are skipping the Seventh Avenue station in both directions, while E trains are being rerouted along the F line between West Fourth Street-Washington Square and 47th-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center.
Riders can also expect delays in both directions on the A, C, D, E and F lines.
The investigation remains ongoing.
