MIDTOWN, NY — A 26-year-old Bronx man has been identified as the victim of Saturday's fatal shooting inside a Midtown subway station, while officials continue to hunt down the suspect, New York City Police Department officials said.
Darrel Rodriguez, 26, from University Heights in the Bronx, died after he was shot at the Seventh Avenue station near Seventh Avenue and West 53rd Street on Saturday at 12:21 p.m., according to the NYPD.
Emergency medical personnel took Rodriguez to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch. He later died at the hospital, police said.
The shooting prompted subway service changes at the Seventh Avenue station, and several delays and rerouted trains, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
No arrests have been made, and police have released surveillance photos of the suspect.
The suspect was last seen running uptown on Seventh Avenue, wearing a red tracksuit, a black vest, a black face mask, and a backpack.
The investigation remains ongoing.
