Correction Officer Accidentally Shoots Woman, Himself In Hell's Kitchen Restaurant, Police Say
The officer suffered gunshot wounds to his hand and the woman suffered wounds to her foot when a gun went off accidentally.
HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A New York City correction officer is facing charges after accidentally shooting himself and a woman inside a Hell's Kitchen restaurant, police told Patch.
Mario Carrillo was dining with a 29-year-old woman at Mamasita, a Mexican restaurant on 10th avenue between West 54th and 55th streets, on Tuesday night when his gun went off, police said. Carrillo, 56, was hit in the finger and the woman was hit in the foot, police told Patch.
An employee of the restaurant told Patch that Carrillo has been a regular at the restaurant for about five years. The gun went off when Carrillo bent down to pick something up off the ground, the employee told Patch. Whiile Carrillo bent down, the gun dropped and hit the floor, the man said.

"He's a good supporter of the restaurant," the employee said. "Sad to see these things happen."
Carrillo was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, police told Patch.

Both were treated for gunshot wounds at Bellevue Hospital, police said.
