Donald Trump To Stay In NYC For Three Nights: Report

President Donald Trump will stay overnight at Trump Tower starting Sunday as he holds "internal meetings," Politico reported.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — President Donald Trump will be staying in his Tump Tower penthouse for three nights next week as he holds "internal meetings" in New York City, according to a report. The visit will mark the presidents first extended stay in his home city since being sworn in as the nation's 45th president.

Trump is scheduled to arrive in New York City on Sunday and hold meetings all day Monday and Tuesday, Politico first reported. The president will return to his country club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Wednesday after spending three nights in his prized penthouse, according to a draft itinerary obtained by Politico.

Details about who Trump will be meeting during his stay in New York City were not revealed. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders confirmed the trip itinerary with Politico.

The NYPD estimates that it costs about around $308,000 per day to protect Trump while at Trump Tower — located on Fifth Avenue between East 56th and 57th streets. The city spent an estimated $24 million to protect Trump Tower from Election Day through Inauguration Day, police commissioner James O'Neill wrote in a February letter to Congress.

Trump hinted at the New York City visit on Twitter earlier this week.

"Working hard from New Jersey while White House goes through long planned renovation. Going to New York next week for more meetings," Trump tweeted.

Trump is currently on a 17-day vacation from Washington D.C. as the White House undergoes renovations. In May, Trump returned to his longtime home city briefly to speak aboard the USS Intrepid but did not stay overnight.

On July 28, the president visited Long Island to deliver a speech about the violent street gang MS-13 and its presence in Long Island communities. Speaking in front of a crowd of primarily FBI, Homeland Security, and law enforcement representatives at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood, Trump vowed to "destroy" MS-13 and other criminal organizations.
