Hell's Kitchen Fire Destroys Stage 48 Nightclub, FDNY Says

More than 130 firefighters worked to contain the blaze at Stage 48.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire in a Hell's Kitchen nightclub Sunday night after the blaze started in a nearby dumpster spread to the building, an FDNY spokesman said.

The fire broke out around 9:15 p.m. next to 605 W. West 48th St., between 11th and 12th avenues, an FDNY spokesman said. More than 130 firefighters operated on the scene of the four-story building for more than two hours, the spokesman said.

The building houses the Stage 48 nightclub, according to the club's website.

The fire was put under control around 11:40 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. Nobody was injured during the fire, the spokesman said.

The city fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
