Fact Check: Trump Goofs On Empire State Building Construction
While talking about his infrastructure plan Friday, Trump claimed the Empire State Building was built in less than a year. It wasn't.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — How long did it take to build the Empire State Building? It's a good question, but if you want the correct answer, don't ask President Trump.
While touting his infrastructure plan Friday, Trump waxed poetic about the good old days of building in the United States. But he tripped up while mentioning one of New York City's most iconic structures. The president claimed that the Empire State Building was constructed in less than one year.
The claim is untrue, but not that far off. The Empire State building — which was the tallest building in the world at its completion — was finished in just one year and 45 days, according to multiple historic sources. A very impressive completion time, not not as great as Trump thinks it was.

Trump did not speak about the Second Avenue Subway while introducing his infrastructure plan Friday. In January, the subway project ended up on a leaked list of Trump administration infrastructure priorities. A spokeswoman for Rep. Carolyn Maloney told Patch in January that the congresswoman was "repeatedly assured" that phases 2 and 3 of the subway project — which would extend the Second Avenue Subway from East Harlem to the Lower East Side — were a priority for Trump.
It's unknown whether the Trump administration still considers the Second Avenue Subway a priority.
