MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Two person are being evaluated for interacting with a potentially hazardous material at the former Midtown Manhattan office building of attorney Aaron Schlossberg, police and fire officials said.

The FDNY responded to 275 Madison Avenue, located between East 39th and 40th streets, around 3:30 p.m. for reports of a hazardous material, the spokesman said. A suspicious white powder was sent to the building in an envelope, an NYPD spokesman said.

The two people who interacted with the powder are being evaluated as a precaution, an NYPD spokesman said. Officials have not determined whether or not the substance is hazardous, the spokesman said.

The building counted Schlossberg as a tenant before the lawyer went viral after he was filmed berating employees and customers of Fresh Kitchen, located across the street from the office building, for speaking Spanish. Schlossberg's law practice was kicked out of the building following backlash to the video.

"Your staff is speaking Spanish to customers when they should be speaking English," Schlossberg said to a Fresh Kitchen manager in the video.

The lawyer also threatened to call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to have the workers deported and ranted about the workers receiving welfare.

Schlossberg apologized for the rant nearly a week later by stating "I am not racist," and saying that he moved to New York City because of its "remarkable diversity."
