Man, 49, Fatally Stabbed On Hell's Kitchen Street

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A 49-year-old man was stabbed to death on a Hell's Kitchen Street late Saturday, and another man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.

Police responded around 9:16 p.m. Saturday to a report of an unconscious man near West 38th Street and 9th Avenue — near the site of a tent encampment in a parking lot between 9th and 10th avenues, the New York Post reported.

Police found the victim, Pedro Diaz, unconscious with stab wounds to his neck, chest and stomach. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Post reported that Diaz was attacked inside the encampment, before staggering up 38th street and collapsing on that block.

Police have arrested Angel Rivera, 42, who has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Residents in recent weeks have reported safety concerns along Hell's Kitchens streets, including complaints of open drug use and threats to passersby.
