Man Found Dead Inside Kips Bay Shelter

Police are investigating after a 48-year-old man was found dead Friday in his room at a Kips Bay homeless shelter.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Police are investigating after a man was found dead Friday morning inside a homeless shelter in Kips Bay.

Around 9:14 a.m. Friday, police received a call about an unconscious man inside the HRA Men's Shelter on East 30th Street, near First Avenue.

Officers found the 48-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive on the floor of his room. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing and the Medical Examiner will determine the man's cause of death, police said. His name is being withheld pending family notification.
