Man Killed In Broad Daylight Midtown Shooting, Police Say

A man was shot and killed on Thursday morning in Manhattan, police said.

MIDTOWN, NY — A man was shot to death on Thursday morning in Midtown, and no suspects have been arrested yet, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the police received a 911 call of an assault in progress at 10:26 a.m. at 589 Eighth Ave., near West 39th Street, which is a 7-Eleven convenience store, police said.

When police arrived, they found an unidentified man with a gunshot wound in the neck, officials said.

According to the New York Post, the victim was a panhandler who was holding open the door. The report says the victim asked the gunman for money before he was shot.

The victim, who is still being identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
