Man Takes Greyhound Bus On Midtown Joyride, Police Say

The man was arrested after driving the bus for about 5 minutes through Midtown.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A man is facing charges after stealing a Greyhound bus Thursday from the Port Authority Bus Terminal and taking it for a joyride through Midtown Manhattan, a Port Authority Police Department spokesman said.

Charles Brown, 54, has been charged with grand larceny, burglary and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a Port Authority Police spokesman said.

Around 1:50 p.m., Brown stole a Greyhound bus of the company's lot at West 40th Street and Dyer Avenue, a Port Authority Police spokesman said. Five minutes later Greyhound employees flagged down Port Authority Police officers after the bus was spotted passing West 31st Street and 10th Avenue, the spokesman said.

Port Authority Police officers stopped the bus and arrested Brown, a resident of Newark, New Jersey, without incident, a spokesman said.
